Expression Blinds fantastic roller blind fabric collections present an extensive range of fabrics ideal for modern living.
Cool, clean urban chic sits alongside rich textured patterns and stylish colours, helping you achieve that designer look. Our fabric ranges are vast, and we always use high quality aluminium barrels to ensure longevity of your blinds.
Made to Measure Roller Blinds
Roller blinds are ideal for a wide range of applications, and work particularly well where window ledge space is at a premium; especially bathrooms and kitchens. They can be created in special waterproof fabric, which resists damage from condensation and water splashes.
Quite simply, they are a sheet of fabric which is stamped into an aluminium barrel. The fabric then rolls off the barrel when the blind is closed, and is rolled up again when opened. At Expression Blinds, we only use aluminium as the barrel material, many companies supplying cheaper roller blinds will use cardboard which can sag in the middle and have an extremely limited life time.
Roller Blinds are Ideal for a Wide Range of Applications
Roller blinds work on a simple sidewinder mechanism, that allows the user to sit the blind at the ideal height. These sidewinders are available in a range of colours, to blend in perfectly with the surface they are fitted to. We also supply all rollers with a ‘child-safety’ clip, that attaches the chain to the wall, out of reach of children and also prevents anything from getting tangled up in the chain.
Roller blinds also work well in bedrooms, where we can supply either blackout or dim-out materials to darken the room to your preferred level. We can also manufacture them with a wide array of shapes, that can come with co-ordinating braids and poles tocreate a traditional or contemporary look.
Many customers choose roller blinds because of their ability to black out the light from a room, especially if you work nights, or for the summer when the sun rises earlier & sets later. They can be rolled up just slightly if you prefer to have some light let in, or you can opt for dim-out blinds, which aren’t as thick as black-out blinds, to dim the room but not completely block out the light.
Vision Roller Blinds
Vision Roller blinds (left) are a superb innovation and addition to the roller blind family. They are in effect a ‘duo roll’ blind; they have a front layer and a rear layer that glide past each other to allow the user to position the fabrics level with each other so you can see through the material, or move them slightly past each other to allow total privacy.
Please see our vision roller page for more details and a video demonstrating exactly how they work!
Also, make sure you ask about our Perfect Fit roller blinds, which clip onto the window frame without the need for drilling or damage to the window frames.
At Expression Blinds, we know blinds inside out. Every type has got its own strengths and weaknesses, things that they’re well suited for and applications that aren’t as well suited. Roller blinds are almost uniquely versatile, and they’ve got a long list of advantages to recommend them. Here are a few of the most pressing ones!
Roller Blinds Are Affordable
Roller blinds are relatively simple to make, so we’re able to offer them at very affordable prices, making them one of our cheapest blinds types. This makes them a great option for any home or business, especially since they can be made to fit any size of window without scaling the cost too much. To find out more about how much your blinds are likely to cost, give us a call or book in a consultation – a set of custom roller blinds might be more affordable than you’d think!
Roller Blinds Go With Any Style!
Roller blinds are especially popular for their design versatility when it comes to décor – and at Expression Blinds, our custom-made roller blinds can be made to fit any interior decoration plan, with a huge range of materials, patterns and colours that can be built into your roller blinds. They’re also particularly tough and easy to maintain thanks to their simple design, with few moving parts and sturdy construction, so if you’re looked after, they’ll continue to look good for years to come!
Roller Blinds Are Versatile
The first and most obvious advantage of roller blinds is their versatility. They can be adjusted precisely to allow for exactly the amount of light you want, and no more – and since they’re one single sheet of material, there are no gaps or cracks, and nowhere where a small component of the blinds can get caught and let a beam of light through.
They can be adjusted to any height, from completely open, on a sliding scale all the way to completely shut, which is exactly what you need in the UK, where the different seasons see the position and angle of the sun changing dramatically throughout the year. They’re also versatile in terms of material and pattern, since Expression Blinds make all our blinds in-house and can use a range of materials and designs to suit your needs. If you book a consultation, your fitter will discuss these options with you, or you can give us a call to see what we can do for you!
Roller Blinds Are Quick To Install – Especially With Expression Blinds!
As we mentioned above, at Expression blinds, all of your blinds are made to measure. The first step of any fitting is a consultation, where your fitter will discuss all your options with you, and take careful measurements of the doors or windows that you’re having fitted for blinds.
With those measurements, we can then manufacture your blinds to fit perfectly, and when the time comes to fit them, our expert fitters will be able to slide them into place quickly and efficiently. The new blinds will be up before you know it!

Are Roller Blinds Cheaper Than Other Blinds Types?
Roller blinds are one of the most cost-effective blinds types available, and are a hardy, long-lasting and easy to clean blinds type that won’t need to be replaced any time soon. Because of their sturdy, relatively simple build requirements, they’re both easy to maintain at home and less expensive to make, so they tend to be less expensive than other blinds types. If you’d like to know more, talk to your fitter – they’ll be able to offer a more accurate quote.
How Do Roller Blinds Work?
Roller blinds block out sunlight and adjust the amount of light being blocked by rolling and unrolling a sheet of material to cover the window. That’s all that’s happening in even the most complex roller blinds when you open and close them, and it’s one of the reasons these blinds are so sturdy and affordable!
Pulling the cord in either direction turns the axle, and that rolls and unrolls the material to cover the window. If you want a little more sunlight in the room, just adjust the cord to roll up the material a little more.
Which Way Should Roller Blinds Face?
Roller blinds are usually installed facing the window, so that they unroll the material very close to the glass. This minimises the gap between the window and the blinds themselves, and therefore greatly reduces the amount of light that gets in around the blinds.
You can request to have your roller blinds fitted the other way around, to leave a gap between the window and the blinds, but this would result in a much worse fit for the blinds and much more light getting in around them, whether or not they were open.
Will Roller Blinds Help To Insulate A Room?
Roller blinds will trap a small layer of air against the windowpane, and will therefore provide more insulation value for a room than if there were no blinds there at all; however, they’re not as effective at insulating a room as heavy curtains and double-glazing would be.
