Bi-Fold doors are a wonderful innovation in modern window design. They are available in a stunning array of materials and colours that can create a striking design feature, whilst opening up a beautiful space and linking the inside to the outside. They can pose an interesting question though and as you can imagine, one we are asked frequently; what are the best blinds for bi-fold doors?
There are of course many different options, and it all depends upon personal preference, budget, style of door and method of operation. Here are our main recommendations:
Vertical Blinds
Vertical blinds are one of the most popular blind ranges amongst our customers, and as blinds for bi-fold doors; they are no exception!
The key criteria is that the doors must open out away from the blind installation area, also there must be adequate recess or frame space to fit the blinds. In some instances, bi-fold doors in a conservatory may prove unsuitable for vertical blinds, but again every case is different.
Vertical blinds offer a huge array of colours, patterns and textures, creating either a design feature or blending seamlessly into the background depending upon the desired effect.
They are also extremely versatile, the slats can be tilted at various different angles to allow privacy and light control for the user. They are cost-effective and work great on large spaces as they are light and easy to open and close!
Panel Blinds
Panel blinds are a variation of vertical blinds; they consist of vertical fabrics, but as the name suggests rather than drapes, they have larger fabric panels that slide across into position. However the panel cannot be tilted due to the size. Panel blinds are a more contemporary innovation, and are very popular in modern apartments and houses.
They work best when on large windows, and are perfect as blinds for bi-fold doors.
Perfect Fit Blinds
Perhaps one of the most effective blinds for bi-fold doors are perfect fit blinds. The beauty about this type of blind is the fact that they fit flush to the window frames so as to not obstruct the opening of the doors, even on the tightest closing doors.
The range of options with perfect fit blinds (roller, venetian or pleated) and frame colours (white, brown, silver, dark mahogany and golden oak) means that there is something to suit everyone’s tastes.
INTU blinds are equally suitable as blinds for bi-fold doors, and work off the same fitting principal as perfect fit blinds, but do not have the surrounding frame. We also offer the screw-fit version of the INTU blinds which can be fitted to bi-fold doors that don’t have the rubber seal between the frame and glass (e.g. wooden windows).
