The COVID-19 pandemic saw many changes to our lives and the world in general. One of the main challenges was the shift in our working patterns; all of a sudden we were all working from home rather than travelling into the office every day. Thankfully our lives have slowly returned to normal, but flexible working patterns have emerged from those dark times, and this means that many people have had to reassess their home work arrangements.
As a great deal of people wanted somewhere a little more private than the dining room table could afford, there has been an increase in popularity of the garden room. These can offer a lovely sanctuary, and provide a multitude of functions – as an office, gym, reading space, bar or somewhere simply to sit and relax. The key question now is, what blinds will work best?
INTU Screw Fit Blinds
INTU Screw Fit are ideal as blinds for garden rooms. As you can see from the image, the interior and window surrounds for a garden room tend to be made from wood, so Perfect Fit and other bead-fit style blinds are often not compatible with the windows. The INTU can be screwed into the wood and fit neatly into place! They are ideal, as they are tensioned and fit flush to the windows, so they don’t take up much room as space in a garden room is often limited. As they won’t swing about, there is less chance of them getting damaged, and will also work well on any tilt and turn windows as they will stay in place firmly.
There are three main types of INTU Screw Fit; venetian, pleated or cellular. The venetian style is very popular due to it’s versatility, the slats can be tilted to a range of angles and they can also be lifted up and down. This offers a wide variety of options for both privacy and light control. The pleated and cellular look surperb, and work well as thermal blinds; especially the cellular fabrics and there have a ‘honeycomb’ design which traps air in the cells and helps to retain warmth in winter, and also reflect heat in the summer
INTU Micro Blinds
Another great option as blinds for garden rooms are the INTU Micro range. Providing the windows have a rubber seal which will allow the brackets to fit to the window (they slot in behind the rubber seal on the window or door), these blinds are superb.
The key advantage that this type offers over the other ranges of bead fit blinds is that the entire blind sits flush to the glass and within the frame reveal. Not only does this look neat, but if they are fitted onto bi-fold doors they will allow them to open fully. Perfect fit blinds have a surrounding frame, and while it only stands proud of the window frame about 1cm, it is enough to prevent the doors opening fully. As the micro sits within the reveal, the doors can open uninhibited.
These are available as either pleated or cellular blinds in a range of colours and finishes. Also, the hardware can be supplied in white, silber, brown or anthracite, catering for all kinds of frames and styles of window.
Roller Blinds
Roller blinds are a delightful option as blinds to dress your garden office. They are a classic and timeless blind, and come in a vast array of colours, finishes and options.
One of the key advantages of this type of blind is the fact the material sits very close to the windows; this is perfect in a garden room where space is limited. A larger style of blind (vertical for example) might take up too much room and make the space feel smaller.
A nice variation of the roller blind is the Vision (or Night & Day) blind, and these can work great too. Please ask us about this exciting blind range!
