What’s The Difference Between Wooden and Faux-Wood Blinds?
The most obvious difference between wooden blinds and faux-wood blinds is the material that they’re made out of. Wooden blinds are made from slats of high-quality wood, while faux wood blinds are made from a strong, lightweight composite PVC material, with wood prints added on afterwards. Both blinds types are available from Expression Blinds in a range of stains and paint effects to match up with the décor scheme that you’re aiming for, but the wood-effect prints on faux wood blinds give them the edge in versatility, as they can be printed or painted in more diverse styles than natural wooden blinds.
Each blinds type is suitable for different applications – something else that your fitter can talk to you about. For example, wooden blinds tend to be lighter in weight than faux wood blinds, making them more suitable for very large windows where the mass of the blinds begins to add up. However, this issue can be circumvented by splitting the blinds up into multiple sets instead of opting for one massive blinds fitting.
Wood can warp or crack if exposed to excessive moisture, too, which would make faux wood blinds more suitable in rooms with very high or regular humidity like the bathroom or kitchen.
