At Expression Blinds, we pride ourselves on being conservatory blind experts. A huge part of supplying conservatory blinds is providing our customers with thermal conservatory roof blinds. Thermal conservatory roof blinds, as the name suggests, contain thermal properties that help to keep the conservatory warmer in the winter time, and cooler in the summer time. So how exactly do thermal conservatory roof blinds achieve this and what option are available?
Perfect Fit Thermal Conservatory Roof Blinds
The main types of roof blinds available for conservatories are either tension pleated blinds or perfect fit pleated
blinds. We now as standard supply the perfect fit version, due to its numerous advantages over the older tension pleated system, which include:
- No drilling is required for perfect fit roof blinds
- Visually the perfect fit blinds look more attractive
- The frame of the blind helps to retain more heat in winter and reflect more heat in summer
- Perfect Fit blinds retain their tension better
- The frame of the blinds help reduce the light spill more effectively
Of course, the perfect fit conservatory roof blinds are only suitable for UPVC conservatories, as they require the rubber seal between the frame and the glass to allow the brackets to fit in place. If the conservatory is an older wooden style, then perfect fit is not suitable, and in this case we can supply tension pleated thermal conservatory roof blinds.
So how are these blinds classed as ‘Thermal Conservatory Roof Blinds’?
Quite simply, thermal conservatory roof blinds have a coating on the reverse side of the fabric. This has significant thermal properties that reflect the heat throughout the summer months, and then help to retain the heat through those cold winter periods. We can supply thermal conservatory roof blind fabrics from both Eclipse and Louvolite,
with the excellent SPC and ASC fabrics proving very popular with our customers.
We can also supply blackout fabrics, and the latest performance fabric is the superb ‘Duette’ fabric (see image left) which has a honeycomb appearance, with the dual layer fabric providing excellent thermal performance. This works really well in conjunction with the perfect fit system, and is also available in a blackout version, increasing the choices available in terms of light control.
