Window blinds are considered to be an important aspect to any bathrooms design due to the high privacy levels a bathroom requires. Whether you have small and frosty windows or large and light, blinds are a welcome addition to any bathroom.
But with a wide range of blinds available on the market, how do you know a blind is right for your bathroom?
With a range of styles and designs that will perfectly match any bathroom, Expression Blinds is here to help!
Humidity Conditions
Depending on the location of your window, you may not need a fully-waterproof blind. If your window is close to your shower then you run the risk of getting your window dressing wet.
Therefore you need a PVC fabric which is waterproof and does not run the risk of getting damaged if wet. But if your bathroom is well ventilated, with an open window or an extraction fan, then any fabric will be fine.
However avoid flock fabrics (such as faux suede) as the material holds moisture for longer encouraging mould growth.
Privacy Concern
As mentioned earlier, bathrooms require a high privacy level. And the location of your home (for example: in the midst of a busy neighbourhood) could make privacy levels a real concern.
Blackout blinds would be the perfect solution as it gives you complete privacy even at night when the bathroom light may be on. However PVC blinds also give you a total blackout while protecting your window from water; serving you two demanded characteristics in one blind.
Decor Style
- The type of blind that you will want to purchase for your bathroom is down to personal choice. Due to the long and cascading fabric, which is perfectly suited to resisting humidity, roman blinds would be the most appropriate option.
- However, roller blinds are also ideal for bathrooms and they are available in a huge variety of colours and styles. They can instantly brighten up a tired-looking room while enduring the humid conditions relatively well.
- Although not usually the first consideration, vertical blinds fit neatly into any bathroom. They can be drawn to the side allowing full access to the window or drawn entirely blocking out unwanted light. Vertical blinds are available in PVC and blackout making them perfect for bathroom use.
- Last but not least, venetian blinds are also a window covering option to consider for your bathroom. Not only do they look great hung in your bathroom, the horizontal slats are functional for controlling light and privacy levels. If choosing venetians for your bathroom, avoid real wood and aluminium venetians and only stick to the faux.
All window blinds are available in a wide range of colours to harmonise your decor while suiting the requirements of your home.
