A question we are frequently asked is ‘Can you supply total blackout blinds?’, to which my reply was always ‘unfortunately not!’. Traditional blackout blinds often have small gaps down the sides and across the tops of the blinds which in certain circumstances can let quite a bit of light into the room, which is not ideal when there is a need for the room to be very dark. This works off the same principle as the popular skylight Velux blinds, comprosing of a blackout roller fabric that sits in a cassette, with aluminium side channels, meaning that when the blind is closed, light has no where to go! They are different to the well known perfect fit blinds in that they do not sit flush to the glass, they sit on the edge of the recess, meaning they are not prone to the problem of mold forming when condensation is ever present on the glass surface.
This system in turn provides significant savings on home heating costs and when combined with the right fabrics, can bring a space complete and total darkness. These possibilities bring this range of blinds an added functionality that is just not possible to achieve with any other blind currently on the market.
BlocOut is the first blind to have been independently thermally tested by the BBA and has been proven to save up to 43% on heat loss. As it is a cordless system, it is Child-Safe too.
