Wooden blinds are a classic and timeless feature in many homes, but modern materials have made it possible to enjoy their elegant aesthetic without the drawbacks of real wood. Faux-wood blinds are durable, easy to maintain and suitable for any kind of décor or interiors scheme, but the choice is yours – your fitter can explain anything you need to know about faux wood blinds during your free consultation, but while you’re waiting for them to get there, you can find out more about faux wood blinds on this post!
Why Choose Faux Wood Blinds?
Faux-wood blinds combine the best features of wooden and synthetic blinds. They’re an excellent choice for families with young children or pets, and can survive a surprising variety of temperatures and humidity levels without trouble. Let’s take a closer look at the advantages of faux-wood blinds:
Faux-wood blinds are stylish
Firstly – and perhaps most importantly – faux-wood blinds look great. They’re expertly made and are practically indistinguishable from real wooden blinds, with styles and colours to match any room, and their design makes it easy to pair them with curtains or shutters, providing all the timeless elegance of wooden blinds with the long life and ease of maintenance provided by modern materials.
Faux-wood blinds are durable and easy to clean and maintain
Faux-wood blinds are made from a durable PVC material that is finished with wood-effect prints. This makes it all but impervious to moisture and temperature changes, and allows the blinds to be easily wiped clean, without the risk of any spills staining the “wood”.
Cleaning and maintaining the blinds is a simple matter of wiping them down with a duster or cloth – and the toughness of the PVC material itself means that everyday wear-and-tear sets in much more gradually than with other blinds types.
Faux-wood blinds are available in a wide range of colours and finishes
Since faux-wood isn’t limited by the same colour, pattern, and staining restrictions found on actual wooden blinds, they can be made to a wider variety of colours and finishes. The high-quality PVC can be fitted with wood-effect prints to suit any colour scheme, and decorative cloth tape for the blinds can be provided in a colour that matches your décor, for a seamless integration with your new blinds.
Shouldn’t I Just Choose Ordinary Wooden Blinds?
If you’ve read all that and you’d still like real wooden blinds instead of faux-wood, then we’d be happy to provide them for you. Wooden blinds tend to be lighter than faux-wooden blinds, which can be a bonus on large windows or doors, and like faux-wood, they’re available in a range of stains and finishes.
However, depending on the room you’re planning on fitting your blinds in, there’s a chance that wood might not be the best option – in rooms with high humidity, regular temperature changes, or regular spikes in humidity (like bathrooms, kitchens, and possibly utility rooms) your wooden blinds might swell, deform, or crack. Faux wood blinds might be a hardier option for these rooms, without compromising on the great aesthetic of wooden blinds.
Whichever decision you make, we’ll be happy to measure and fit your blinds so that they look perfect – just get in touch and we’ll arrange a free consultation with one of our expert fitters.
